You can use any combination of selection options to narrow your search for courses. You must choose at least one subject. Multiple subjects can be selected by dragging the mouse over two or more courses, or holding the Ctrl key while clicking on desired subjects. GSS 2181 - THE HISTORY OF CHILDBIRTH IN AMERICA |
This is a Historical Consciousness course (H). This course will provide an overview of the history of childbirth in America, with special attention to individuals and events that have shaped the way women give birth today. Students will learn about the political, social, economic and cultural issues that influenced the way in which women gave birth throughout different time periods in American history. The role of gender and its impact on childbirth practices, and the medicalization of childbirth will also be explored.
