GNM 2142 - SHARKS: MYTH AND REALITY
Not open to students who have credit for GNM 1123, "Fisheries in Crisis".
Values/ethics course (V).
Sharks are among the most efficient predators on earth. This distinction is introduced through an overview of their unique biology. The complex mythology of sharks is addressed, along with their (largely inaccurate) depictions in popular media. Unfortunately, millions of years of evolution have not helped sharks solve their biggest problem - humans. Global shark exploitation and ongoing conservation efforts are discussed.
