GAH 2233 - AMERICAN CINEMA
Arts course (A).
Not open to students with credit for GAH 1055 or GAH 2231.
Covers the history of film in America from silent cinema to the present, and helps students increase their ability to watch films actively and critically. Specific topics include the role of technology in film art, the place of film in American popular culture, and the economics of the film industry. The course will explore some of the main genres of American film and their relation to social and cultural tensions, paying particular attention to the concept of "realism."
