GAH 2216 - PUERTO RICAN HISTORY AND CULTURE
Historical consciousness course (H).
A study of Puerto Rican history pre-columbian to the 1950's. The course examines the development of the indigenous Taino culture. The course also studies the arrival of the Spaniards and the period of Spanish colonization. The colonization under the United States beginning in 1898 is also addressed as well the debate over Puerto Rico's political status.
