Prerequisite: Teaching Certificate. Open to graduate students only. This course introduces the historical foundation of ESL and bilingual education, current research in effective methodologies, trends and best teaching practices. Other topics include content and culture-based language teaching in the context of oracy and literacy instruction. The Sheltered Instruction Observation Protocol (SIOP) Model will be introduced and used as a model for lesson planning.
