GSS 3102 - EFFECTS OF MEDIA ON CHILDREN
This course examines a variety of question related to children’s and adolescents’ use and understanding of the media and possible affects in their development. How do media shape and socialize us? How does exposure to TV programs, movies, and magazines shape children’s understanding of gender roles, ethnic groups, and societal norms? In this course we will discuss these and other questions, and will review several theoretical perspectives describing links between children and the media.
