Open only to juniors and seniors.
Values/ethics course (V).
The moral dilemmas, from both scientific and philosophical perspectives, raised by recent advances in biology and medicine. Includes such topics as the ethics of human experimentation, euthanasia, health care and resource allocation, genetic engineering and assisted reproductive technologies, including "test-tube" fertilization and cloning. Examines the rights and duties of researchers, research subjects, health professionals, patients, and society at large.
