Prerequisite:MATH 1100 with a grade of C or better OR GEN 1126 with a grade of C or better OR GNM 1125 with a grade of C or better OR Accuplacer score of 55 or better. Corequisite: CHEM 2115. The first of a two-year, four-course sequence in general and organic chemistry, this course serves as an introduction to chemistry for students in the physical and biological sciences. It is a prerequisite for all subsequent courses in organic, inorganic, and environmental chemistry and is required for most of the science and health disciplines. Introductory chemistry: composition and structure of matter; energy changes; stoichiometry; periodic trends; chemical equilibrium; solutions; gas laws; and acids and bases. Includes laboratory work in CHEM 2115. Please make sure you also register for CHEM 2115. CHEM 2115 (LAB) is a Corequisite. This course may be offered in sections with a Q2 designation.
