SOWK 5561 - LEADING AND MANAGING HUMAN SERVICE ORGANIZATIONS |
This is the first of the three course concentration in Leadership and Management. It covers leadership; strategic planning; problem solving; managing productivity; creating an ethical, supportive work environment; managing problems with employees; evaluating employees; budgeting and managing organizational finances; leading meetings; managing external relationships; building coalitions; and working with boards of trustees. The course provides a comprehensive overview of the challenges that managers face in their day-to-day work as well as an opportunity to develop leadership and management competencies. Course topics and assignments are relevant for both aspiring managers and those who already function as managers.
