A comprehensive introduction to theory and instruction that supports early literacy development. Emphasis is on developing instructional strategies for supporting word recognition strategies, vocabulary, comprehension, fluency, and writing skills. Guidelines for meeting the needs of diverse learners and differentiating instruction are provided.
